Seeing the Eiffel Tower. It was always my dream to see it and I saw it on my first day off. I was mesmerized.

Favorite Port:
Warnemunde, Germany, because the Afrikaans language is very close to German so I understand it, but mainly because this is where I had my first shipboard romance!

How has working at sea changed you?
I have gained so much confidence and am much better at communicating. I have changed for the better!

Funniest Moment:
Well I have had a few, but one day I had a Chinese man in for a massage. I left him to prepare and showed him which direction to lie on the bed, etc. When I came back into the room, he had completely turned everything the other way round – the bed, my trolley, and the hot stones had all been moved and instead of facing the door, he was facing the window. It was so funny – but I just repositioned myself and continued as normal. Feng Shui taken very seriously in this instance!

Message for someone considering life at sea with Steiner:
Go for it. It will broaden your horizons, give you knowledge and make you realize that there is so much more to life than you can ever imagine. You meet so many cultures and break down so many social barriers. It is amazing.

Will you Return?
Yes. I will go home for a month and travel for a while. I intend to visit Nathalie in Canada and then I will come back for another contract!
